Established in 2008, the Sydney Royal Branded Lamb Competition assesses Australian lamb racks. This is the most recent competition added to the Sydney Royal Fine Food Show. The second year of competition saw a 60% increase in entries from the previous year, and almost every entry received a medal, highlighting the outstanding quality of Australian lamb. The event is held in September every year as part of the Spring Fine Food Show.
Classes are based on weight as well as feed type. Classes are:
Judges include farmers, end users, chefs and food media whose expertise derives from hands-on knowledge, academic expertise, professional consumer and marketing knowledge and end-user experience.
