About Sydney Royal

Sydney Royal is the brand name for the competitive events that the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW organises every year.

As well as the animals and agricultural produce that form one of the much-loved centrepieces of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, these competitions include an enormous array of human skills, talents and accomplishments. They are designed to select, reward and applaud the tastiest honeys, the best showjumpers, the finest alpacas, the most skilled woodchoppers, the ultimate rural achiever, the most accomplished cake decorators, the finest wines, cheeses, coffees and olive oils and the best looking ute.

Some of these competitions are world championships that pit the best of the best against one another in the quest to determine the ultimate champions. While some of these competitions are run in conjunction with the Sydney Royal Easter Show, others run independently.

Judging these competitions is the work of high-profile, highly skilled personalities who are recognised as experts within their profession. Organising the various competitions that make up the Sydney Royal is a year-round task that employs many dedicated and expert staff at RAS headquarters.

The Sydney Royal is the method by which the RAS continues to set the benchmarks for agricultural excellence. It is the pursuit of excellence that underpins Australia’s agricultural performance, and ensures a viable and prosperous future for our rural communities.
